Farming Eternal Ep.95: Saying Good-bye to Empire of Glass

    Posted: 10 May 2021 08:30 AM PDT

Welcome to Ep. 95 of Farming Eternal. Patrick and HatsonLamps did it. They, along with all the rest of us, have made it to the end of Empire of Glass. It is time to look back at all those fine memories of getting hit with 5/5 bashers on turn 4, of 2 power 10/10s, 0 power 7/6s, and a certain 5/6 endurance, regen, flyer. Oh, did Patrick mention the flying, charge, lifesteal, regen 6/5? What fond memories. It's always fun to hear what Patrick and HatsonLamps have learned from a format, what they got wrong, and how their evaluations changed. HatsonLamps even had fun.

I think it's time that exploit gets a nerf

You've got a card that can:

    • Eradicate a threat, disrupt other players strategy enormously
    • Help with power fixing, card draw
    • See the opponents hand (which is imo a huge advantage on t2).
    • ONLY COSTS 2 POWER

And maybe more importantly... it's just extremely not fun to play against.

I think it's reasonable that this card should cost at least 3 power.

Help me understand how this works?

    Posted: 10 May 2021 11:34 AM PDT

So, just picked up the game Saturday and trying to absorb mechanics and meta etc. experienced with various ccg's just not Eternal.

I'm looking at results of a recent 5k and the top deck just looks like a mish mosh of meh. I'm just not processing how it wins let alone a whole tourney.

What's really throwing me is the Savior of the Meek. I'm not seeing a way to cheat him out reliably nor even play him with the mana base. Plus a 7/7 for 9 could have every keyword, I'm not convinced it's good at that price. Everything else just looks like cutesy good stuffs but nothing that punches through.

How does this deck actually win?

can we please get some kind of all hours competitive options?

    Posted: 10 May 2021 12:33 AM PDT

what i mean is permanent mtgo league style events or mini tournament queues, when i usually get a competitiive itch its usually at times when there is not a tne or ecq going on, and ladder doesnt hit it for me

maybe these leagues/queues can have packs attached to them with gold entry and whatnot, i think that this kind of thing is a good thing for the game and would help people like me who ladder doesnt hit that competitive itch have something to do

    Quickdraw Bug

    Posted: 09 May 2021 12:53 PM PDT

Saw the post about the gold deadly puzzle being bugged a couple days ago, which corroborates my experience. There appears to be a bug sometimes preventing blocked creatures from being given quickdraw as an instant (possibly requiring the presence of a deadly creature?). Be careful with your Cabal Tactics, folks.

It would be nice if Casual could have ban lists

    Posted: 09 May 2021 09:49 PM PDT

Instead of ranting loosing to speaking circle for the nth time, I decided to make a for fun request. I agree Ranked should be best decks, but I personally don't see the point of playing casual when I can play ranked and get rewards. However, I find myself quitting whenever I find myself loosing to certain decks. Decks that go, oh... your playing that deck... well my deck is countered. And yes I know it is a fault of mine for playing a weak deck, a faulty deck. But I play to have fun. Not to climb. So yeah I should play casual. But same thing happens there.

So what if we could just pick cards that opponents cannot play. Things that we think needs nerf. Not necessarily proven, but just felt. Like EHG, Exploit, Krull, Builders Decree. That way we can still play and during the ladder resets and avoid the rush to the top.

I recognize this is a dream, as Matchmaking would need a huge overhall, Not alone, people may try to set up to game the system (or unknowningly game the system). But I think this would be the first DCG to do this, and would give the casuals a reason to play eternal over some other game.
