    Eternal faction charts - Part 1 & 2

    Hi all,

I created these 2 faction charts on printer friendly format. Reason is, I personally found it hard to keep track of all the factions and their relation with each other. And of course it was fun to make! I hope you'll like it and feedback is welcome.

They include everything untill Flame of Xulta. I'm very curious what the 5 new triple factions will be! I'll update these charts when they are known!

PS: i know there are other charts already, but I took a different approach.

I just played a game where i decimated greeds reward onto a throne warden and it didn't break aegis. Is this a known bug?

As a new Switch player.. What cards/deck should I be looking out for in Draft?

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 02:58 PM PDT

I'm LOVING this game! Cannot wait to get back into this!

Anyway, I'm about to use my first (free) draft and was wondering what's a good starter deck with the current expansion? Any cards I should be on the lookout for? (I'm assuming all draft picks are current expansion?)

Just trying to not screw up my first draft. Lol.

Any and all help is much appreciated!

aReNGee's Picks for the Top Ten from Flame of Xulta

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 08:16 PM PDT

Hello all! Yes, its early in the format and yes, I don't usually do articles now, but it's much more fun to predict which cards are going to have the biggest impact long term. I based my list on what cards I thought were going to have long term impact with a nod to Throne (ranked) over Expedition as that metagame needs to settle still before we can make head or tails of it - why just today camat0 was telling me every 2/3 was constructed playable in Expedition. Preamble aside, here are my Top Ten From Flame of Xulta.

    1. Edict of Shavka

It slices, it dices! No, really. When I realized this card could hit sites, it went WAY up in value. This kills eleven of the fifteen sites in the game for a single power, in addition to slaying units up to and including Icaria. If you really want to, this goes face as well, and for all I know probably blasts them for 5 if they were foolish enough to play a relic weapon in 2019. This card will be as much of a fire market staple as Bore ever was.

    2. Sodi's Spellshaper

As good as advertised! Especially in expedition, where all the cards are terrible, but even in Throne this is starting to make some real waves. The only thing holding it back is the Elysian faction, but I've heard some good thing about Combrei splash this and Ice Bolt.

    3. Emblems

They looked like they were going to be very good in decks that can support them. They are very good in decks that can support them. Aggro decks are spoilt for choice on how to spend their power (and control decks are spoilt for Crests).

    4. Borderlands Lookout

I guess Elysian can just play the best mono faction cards. 3/4s for 1 are pretty good.

    5. Felrauk the Outcast

Free spells, also very good. I haven't found the right shell yet but this card is very strong.

    6. Shen-ra Speaks

Literally the only wrath in expedition. Also an upgrade over End of the Story or even Harsh Rule for markets.

    7. Bloodseeker

Not as good as advertised, but I'm going to keep trying. I think he's mostly held back by aggro's weaknesses in general, because this guy is a 2/3 any day of the week (until he becomes a 4/5 for 1).

    8. Outcast Fortress

I expect great things. 3 cost sites don't have to do a lot to justify their inclusion, and this one has some solid impact if you can drop a protect on something or use a 0 cost Permafrost to protect it. Curses are a lot worse than spells but we saw what Garden did to the format. Curse matters might not get there, but this is a powerful utility card if someone can put the deck together. Playing this after Hojan sounds like a starting point.

    9. Cozin Darkheart

1/5 is the new 2/1. Valuable mastery, centerpiece of Oni decks, and will only get better going forwards, especially in Expedition.

    10. Kairos, Grand Champion

This card will probably only see play off of Talir, but that combo is very strong. And in expedition. I am not pleased.

So there you have it, my picks for top ten cards of the set! The list trails off dramatically in power level after 8, but there are still plenty of cards fighting for slot 9 and 10. Note that I've played with some but not all of the cards and having two real formats, one of which is totally unexplored, makes this a lot harder than it should be. What are your picks for the most powerful cards of the set?

    Loving the new Expedition format

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 11:53 PM PDT

I had some trepidation with the wholesale removal of so many staples and pruning but it has been so refreshing to play for a variety of reasons.

As a general point, it seems like DWD intend Expedition to be almost like Standard in Magic and Ranked as Historic ( where you can play anything ).

The overriding intent of Expedition it seems is to "cool down" the game - doing this by removing awkward borderline broken or broken cards, reduce or eliminate oppressive strategies and create a more measured and balanced game where there is more game to play and it is actually fun. This is opposed to the current meta for example where, due to the general strength of bombs and archetypes, games are often one sided and determined on who drops the first bomb first without counter or you simply don't have the deck to deal with the archetype or combo deck the opponent is playing: "Oh look he is playing Reaninamtor/Icaria/Revenge/Unitless/Garden/Shift Abuse or insert any problematic card or style and I don't have the answer in my deck or I didn't draw the answer now so next turn I lose" kinda thing. Another benefit is that cards which were perfectly fine but simply didn't see much play due to a variety of reasons, usually that there was just a stronger card in its slot, now are seeing long awaited play.

Expedition also removes the need for DWD to keep having to nerf and buff cards - the constant back and forth time consuming neverending process this entails. Problem card or Deck - just remove it.

What is refreshing with Expedition is you notice how they have cleaned up and removed so many aspects which were often considered "unfun". Gone are:

    - Reanimator / Void Recursion

    - Mass Flyers / Aegis

    - Revenge

    - Sentinels

    - Sweepers/Mass kill spells/Removal/ Board wipes

    - Relic Weapons

This is just off the top of my head, I am sure there are many others. So the nice part is you can still play anything you want, but it won't be as oppressive as in the past as there simply aren't the amount of cards that are needed in those type of decks so it gives the opponent a better chance of counterplay and having a more balanced game.

    10/8 Updates

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 04:55 PM PDT

We have addressed the following issues:

    • Fixed an issue where Burr-Spore Fern could gate the game if copying a spell with Decimate.

    • Unkindness should no longer incorrectly create a response window for the cursed player when sacrificed.

    • Fixed a bug where Harmony of Flame was not reducing the cost of spells in your deck.

    • Mountain Goliath should no longer buff itself when drawn.

    • Sodi's Spellshaper should now warn you if you target the bearer with its Equivocate.

    • Fixed a bug where the incorrect player would draw cards after using Felrauk's Choice on a unit with a Wanted Poster.

    • Rosebloom Mandrake's dynamic text should now correctly reflect the number of cards in your opponent's void.

    • Fixed an issue with the Eternal Draft Pack Image.

If you have any questions, or encounter any other issues, let us know at support@direwolfdigital.com or via in-game Feedback (under Options).

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 09:02 AM PDT

I haven't touched the game for around a month and a half (always played on Android) and I went to check FoX to find the client is laggy, unresponsive and acting weird. I got a lot of disconnects when internet is fine, it freezes sometimes with no reason and god heavens nearly every time I go to the main page either the reddit or the discord open up without me touching it Is it the app or is it my phone?

Why is Expedition not a ranked mode?

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 12:10 AM PDT

Now that players qualify for worlds through expedition, why is there no visualized ranked system in it? Right now you have to just keep playing and hope you suddenly show up in the top 100, which seems weird to me.
