    TNT Throwdown World Cup

TNT: Where Tavrod is a Dirty Word

To celebrate the 25th Team Not-Tavrod Throwdown this year and to close out the 2020 tournament season, the team will host the TNT Throwdown World Cup running December 9th to 13th.

    What is a TNT Throwdown

A TNT Throwdown is a tournament that starts on a Wednesday at noon central US time (Chicago) and runs through Sunday at 7pm central US time (Chicago). The tournament is round robin, so players schedule their matches with other players in an ad hoc fashion for best of three matches. If there is a high player turnout, players are put into groups and a playoff/final takes place at the players' convenience. This is not a Swiss tournament with timed rounds with everyone all in one place at one time. This is played over several days, kind of like an ECQ or in-client event. Ask anyone who has played in one: the flexible schedule makes for convenient worldwide gameplay.

    Tournament Deck Building Requirements

At its heart, this tournament is a deck building challenge. TNT, and with significant help and brainstorming from our TournamentPlayers crew in our team discord, have come up with deck requirements for this Throne event.

Players must choose one of twelve required card triads and brew a deck. I'll give you one example below. The full list is available here.

    FJP: The Lovers

    • Deck must contain:
    • 4x Whirling Duo
    • 4x Mating Call
    • 4x Display of Honor

Players create a Throne format deck, and it must contain four copies of the listed cards. In the case of The Lovers, that's four copies each of Whirling Duo, Mating Call, and Display of Honor. All decks have named factions for convenience, but you are not required to stay within those factions. You can add to them if you choose.

    Prizes

There is a prize pool for this event. I have donated $100, and I have a commitment for an additional €50. Prizes will be awarded as follows:

1st place: 50% of prize pool
    2nd place: 25%
    3rd places (x2): 12.5% each

    Registration

Registration is open and available here. Feel free to register now and update your registration with your decklist before the tournament fires. This also gives us a sense of projected participation. Again, the tournament runs from December 9th at noon central US time (Chicago) to December 13 at 7pm central US time (Chicago).

All players are required to join the TNT discord and will be given the role of TournamentPlayer for ease of communication. Additionally, players will be put into groups and given a group role in Discord to make it easy to find your matches. (For example, "[at]GroupA, I'm available if anyone is around.") It's easy peasy.

If you have questions, feel free to ask here or join the discord and pose questions there.

Four Worlds competitors break down what happened in Worlds 2020, the preparation up to the event, and what it means for each format moving forward.

Sorry about my audio quality on this one, not sure what happened but it will hopefully be fixed for next time.

This week on FECast, Sunyveil and Stormblessed are joined by returning guests and fellow Worlds 2020 competitors Collecter and The Boxer. They discuss the tournament's results and their experiences in it, and share how they prepared for the year's biggest event.

    Statistics from the World Championship

It was great watching the Eternal World Championship!

There were a total of 31 Heads ups given, which means an avarage of one every 27.8 minutes! Some of them as close to each other as 9 seconds!

Here are the details that I gathered for you

I played years ago. Coming back on a fresh account, can anyone give me a TL;DR of the expansions / stories?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 08:11 AM PST

Back in the day I remember there being 4 story expansions for $10 each and one of them you could get for free through Alienware. I looked pretty thoroughly through the Store and I do not see any of these expansions that I once played, either through their online Store via browser or in-game.

If anyone doesn't mind, could you tell me what all of the expansions are? Here's what I can tell are the story expansions:

    Basion Rising - 23 cards

Awakening - 21 cards (play to unlock)

Shadow of the Spire - 23 cards

Whispers of the Throne - 21 cards

Promises by Firelight - 21 cards

Trials of Grodov - 20 cards

In addition to all of these, I also found these major expansions:

    Empty Throne (core)

    Omens of the Past

    The Dusk Road

    The Fall of Argenport

Defiance, Dark Frontier (around when I quit)

    The Flame of Xulta

    Echoes of Eternity

    Argent Depths

Where do I start, what expansions did I miss (where are the original 4 stories that I remember playing, including the Alienware one?), and do I have any reasonable chance of making a deck now?

I remember Eternal used to be very generous, but the collection was also massive so progress was still slow (at least it was progress) but it looks like this could be amplified now. Someone please help.

    Is this deck good?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 09:01 AM PST

I have very little experience as a TCG player, never played magic or hearthstone, eternal is basically my first go. I've played it for six months, and I made this deck. Its supposed to be built around a few small synergies that all center around influence, max power, and sacrificing units. Is it any good?

    2 Badlands Survivalist (Set9 #2)

    2 Copper Conduit (Set1 #66)

    4 Dark Return (Set1 #250)

    4 Grenadin Drone (Set1 #5)

    4 Prize Sow (Set9 #148)

    4 Apprentice Mage (Set9 #45)

    4 Darkblade Cutpurse (Set9 #8)

    4 Flameheart Patroller (Set9 #9)

    4 Last Rites (Set4 #62)

    4 Packbeast (Set5 #46)

    2 Touch of Resilience (Set8 #125)

    2 Assembly Line (Set1 #29)

    4 Grisly Contest (Set9 #159)

    2 Battery Mage (Set9 #59)

    2 Severin of the Dark (Set9 #178)

    5 Fire Sigil (Set1 #1)

    5 Shadow Sigil (Set1 #249)

    5 Time Sigil (Set1 #63)

    3 Seat of Chaos (Set0 #60)

    3 Seat of Impulse (Set0 #54)

    3 Seat of Mystery (Set0 #61)

    3 Token of Destruction (Set8 #181)

    Concede emotes: New feature request

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 04:40 AM PST

Hey Direwolf, in the spirit of the curious times we find ourselves in, how about a new feature: Concede emotes.

To be clear, these would not be triggered when you concede yourself, but rather when your OPPONENT refuses to concede a game with grace.

So, for example, if my opponent concedes without firing of a "well played" style emote, I could make them automatically fire off my concede emote instead:

"If you count all the legal turns, I easily won!"

These emotes could be sold in the influence/gem store and there could be a whole range of them that would be triggered by different concede conditions, such as turn 1 concede, rope concede etc. Each one would make your opponent gently mock themselves for not conceding courteously.

What's your idea for a concede emote and the opponent's concede condition that would trigger it?
