- So recently I have had opponents just quit all of a sudden despite there being no real reason to. I don't run really comp decks either; I play on high bronze or low silver due to how often I get to play. Is there a high number of combo decks in meta right now?

| Throne Needs a Shakeup in a Bad Way Posted: 10 Feb 2021 10:28 AM PST For what seems like months now, the decks at the top of throne have revolved around 2 cards, Jarral and Kira Ascending. With the introduction of set 10, we received Krull, which only made these decks more powerful due to their ability to recur these low cost extremely powerful units for one power and often as little as 2 health. This combined with the cylix nerf edging out previously strong 3 faction decks such as Kerendon has lead to an oversaturation of sameness on ladder, which I feel is bad for the diversity of the game and does a poor job at holding interest (at least for me). Although Xenan has also become a strong contender due to having powerful recursion and ramp tools, as well as some of the best removal and cards to tech against Kira strategies at least, these three deck archetypes tend to be all I see on ladder and with the full collection cards available I'm wondering if we can't do better. While expedition has felt fun, fresh, and enjoyable by removing some of the more powerful cards and creating a pool that really allows the new set 10 cards to shine on their own, throne seems to always remain the same. This leads me believe that the only way to be competitive in throne is to play one of these same three deck archetypes, which I can't help but find incredibly boring and causes me to border on the decision of whether or not I want to continue even bothering with the format. At the moment, the best deck archetypes I can think outside of these strategies are either heavy control or heavy aggro, but even then, I've found them to have a hard time keeping up with the other lists. If I'm far off base here, or if you have any suggestions for ways I can get out of this funk I'm feeling, please let me know, but this is just my own personal opinion. This is somewhat me venting, but also me asking for the community's feedback on this. How do you feel about the format? P.S. | Eternal Tournament with cash prize aka The Salty Games Posted: 09 Feb 2021 04:36 PM PST OK i'm trying to put together another Tournament, sadly i wasn't able to get the first one running due to not enough people signing up. I'm hoping for a minimum of 8 people to sign up. So if you are interested then join my discord in the link below to grab a spot, but if more people want to join in even though we have 8 players you'll be put on a separate bracket. I want to record each game and i even set up my own Tournament Spectating using two accounts. So for each match we need to set up a time that suits best for us. My timezone is EST. The cash prize will be 20$ CAD either by Pay Pal or Steam Game card. Heads up I've have never done a pay pal transfer before and i'm not sure if they still sell steam cards let alone 20$ ones. | Mulligan system in this game feels horrible. Posted: 10 Feb 2021 09:48 AM PST Maybe I'm totally wrong on this and its just my salt speaking, if so please tell me but I feel like mulligan system in this game is terrible. Its not like I'm new, been playing this game on and off since set 1 and having a great time, but the mulligan system have never felt worse to me before. Every single game I play I feel punished by the mulligan phase, no matter what deck I play. It feels unavoidable to be hurt by it. For every 5 games I play 4 of those I play with a handicap due to being screwed, forced to concede, or to play and never able to recover and ultimately lose. Its like the game is not allowing me to play because I got unlucky in the mulligan. Left with this lose/lose choice of keeping an iffy hand or going to 6 cards. Playing with a disadvantage in both cases. This happens so often its exhausting. Maybe one argument in favor of it is that you get 3 chances at it, but you really don't. Once you mulligan for the first time that hand has to be playable. If it isn't you are already punished by the system and you have to play with 6 cards. You only get 2 chances at a decent game. When it fails it just feels bad to play and this happens often to me. I'm left feeling like I want to play a game that actually lets me play, which is sad because I love eternal. What are your thoughts on this? Does anyone feel the same way or did I become delusional with frustration? [link] [comments] | ||
