    Eternal Card Game Colorblind mode?

    Eternal Card Game Colorblind mode?

    Colorblind mode?

    Posted: 27 Oct 2019 09:25 AM PDT

A friend and I have just started playing Eternal and he's having a hard time differentiating between the different color cards sure to him being colorblind. I know most games have a colorblind mode, but I can't find it for Eternal. Am I not looking in the right place?

    Expedition Burn Control

    Posted: 27 Oct 2019 07:29 AM PDT

    https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/AGGhHqOmaQg/burn-control

    Decklist at bottom

    ---

This deck has 26 maindeck removal cards and 4 in the market. The units boost spell damage to obnoxious levels, and cheap spells allow you to use spell damage on the turn you play them. This deck is not easy to play. There are a lot of decisions to be made, and a lot of ways to make mistakes.

The game plan for this deck is to draw cards and delete every unit and site the enemy plays until you can burn them out with Prodigious Sorcery. This deck ends up being quite cheap, only costing around 20k stone for the full version.

    Notes

It's extremely important to keep an eye on how much damage you can put out with burn compared to your opponent attacking you. There are times where you will draw Garden or Sorcery with enough burn in hand to kill the opponent if you can survive long enough to play your burn, Sorcery it back, and play it again. Char is extremely good at this because of the cost reduction. Playing Garden with 2 Char in hand will often close out the game.

Because this deck is capable of extreme burst damage, you need to consider when to use Lightning Strike or Conflagrate on a unit versus a card that is weaker but can hit face and sites - Lightning Strike vs Streets Aflame / Innate Conviction, and Conflagrate vs Char. As you familiarize yourself with matchups, you will learn when to hold onto certain types of burn. Kaleb's Favor is extremely good in this deck, as it drastically increases the reliability of Sorcery's face burn.

With Conflagrate, against some decks it can be worth taking extra damage to set up a 2 unit kill with it, but against others you may die if you don't immediately remove their units and/or hold up fast burn. You need to play against different matchups to gauge what removal to use against various things, and when.

Permafrost maindeck is out of favour in expedition, but that's because other decks don't run 26 removal cards. In this deck we have enough removal to deal with the time-based decks that have endurance, and can afford to have permafrost sitting in hand until it is merchanted away for other removal. Anyone willing to go to market to remove the permafrost is a good trade, because we now have 1 less merchant to worry about and can probably remove the unit again. Against decks like Stonescar dragons we can't afford to not maindeck this card. They can quickly outsize your burn with cards like Cozin Darkheart, and they have cheap removal to remove your spell damage. This means you need to be able to answer both Cozin and Eclipse Dragon without relying on spell damage.

Greed's Reward is absolutely insane with spell damage, but there are times where you need to cast it for 1 damage and/or choose not to decimate. This is very dependent on the situation you're in. It can sometimes be correct to kill a Resolute Monk with this on turn 3 without decimating, for example. Any time you draw more than 1 card with this it's insane, and giving it Double Damage with Sorcery lets you refill your hand if you aren't yet in a position to start killing the opponent.

Innate Conviction allows you to warp a burn spell with Garden that can target anything, and occasionally gives you other warp or onslaught value.

Re-Read is another tool you can grab with Garden. This can help in longer matchups where you want to cast Prodigious Sorcery more than once or twice. It can also get back an Edict of Linrei or Wisdom of the Elders from your void, which Sorcery cannot do. There are niche situations where you may want to Re-Read an Eilyn's Favor for face aegis.

    Market

Storm Spiral in the market will bail you out against cultists, and midrange decks that have built a board you can't deal with by going 1 for 1 a bunch of times. This wipes your board but benefits significantly from spell damage, acting as a harsh rule when it matters. Decks playing larger units tend to go slow enough that you can 1 for 1 them until you draw some cards, and then you just remove everything they do until you draw Garden or Sorcery and point your remaining burn at their face. This also hits face, which generally will be a benefit as you can often start burning the opponent out immediately after wiping their board.

Burn Them All in the market gives you a way to deal 15+ damage from a single merchant if you have Sorcery in your hand. If you already have a burn spell in your hand or void, Merchant + Sorcery will kill pretty much anybody who hasn't gained life (if you are in a position to survive enough turns to do it).

Edict of Linrei helps deal with problematic units that outsize our burn.

Edict of Shavka primarily kills Aegis units while incidentally obliterating J and P units. They also tend to be the ones with Aegis, conveniently enough.

Emblem of Shavka in case of emergency.

    Make the cut #1

    Posted: 27 Oct 2019 08:37 AM PDT

Maybe I am starting a small series regarding draft cuts. I really enjoy drafting the cards and I kinda like playing the deck afterwards. What I enjoy the least during a draft is: making the cuts. I find that really hard and that's the part where I think I can improve the most. Also while making the cuts I often think: nah, you can't cut that card; it's really strong in this [insert random situation]. Therefore I will post decks I draft and then let us discuss which cuts should be made.

Here is the first draft deck:

    https://eternalwarcry.com/deck-builder?main=7-62:1;7-64:1;4-53:1;1-408:1;3-212:1;7-197:1;7-126:1;7-127:1;7-129:1;1-265:1;6-196:2;7-73:1;1-93:1;1-266:1;7-45:1;1-279:1;6-202:1;7-78:1;7-48:1;6-69:1;7-80:1;1-158:2;7-142:1;7-143:1;5-172:1;5-59:1;7-214:1;7-52:1;6-213:1;6-82:1;7-87:1;7-55:1;4-238:1;7-57:1;7-147:1;6-91:1;0-61:1;5-231:1;7-184:1;

41 cards with with 4 power. So depending on the power you want to play, there are 10 or 11 cuts to make.

    Decimate, your thoughts?

I think this mechanic is a waste of space. Without Eloz it's by FAR not worth it in my experience.
