Guest Article: How NOT TO Tech Against Endra

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 08:27 AM PST

Just got into Eternal after looking for a fun TCG on my Switch. Grenadins seem to be like the Goblins of Magic: The Gathering. You overwhelm with numbers or blow them up to do stuff. Anyone got a fun Grenadin tribal deck list?

I had heard the legends of the double Diamond chest, but to think I'd live to see one... I can die happy now.

    Discard Decks

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 06:51 AM PST

    Good people of Reddit,

I'm a fairly new player to Eternal, diving headfirst into the game since Bethesda announced its shelving of ESL.

I've been having a blast trying all the pre-made decks and exploring the different synergies of each colour.

One in particular is the Shadow decks I love the interaction with the void, and being able to discard your opponents cards. Are there any decks which focus around the discard mechanic that I can aim to build? I have a fairly good collection and some shiftstone to burn.

While I don't expect such a deck to be too competitive I'm EX or TH I would appreciate any help.

    Thanks

    Thoughts on next Merchants?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 12:57 PM PST

What should or will the next merchant(s) be?

Maybe a 3cost, uncolored - International Exchanger, trade a card in hand for card in market with same color as traded card? (Nah reading this back people will say waaaaay too strong. But colorless wants a market too you know)

Maybe a 3cost thief - trade a card in hand for an opponents market card (nah seems too unusual)

Maybe a 3cost, 'Color Exchanger/Thief/Trader/Sneak' - trade a card and grab a different colored card from your market! (Using I guess new wheel of Red grabs blue or green, Yellow grabs blue or black, etc) would be interesting as you could increase the number of merchants, but they might take up too many spots.

There are still battleskills to use. Unlockable black, Exalted white, Milling blue, quickdraw red, silence green, etc

Have you always been able to play a unit with negative health?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 12:31 PM PST

I may be misremembering this completely, so wanted to get a second (tenth?) opinion. I thought the game wouldn't let you even play a unit that had negative health from a previous debuff of any kind... is this something that has changed recently or has always been the case? Does anyone know for sure here? thanks!

QoL request: Keep the order of cards in the market consistent

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 03:45 PM PST

I can't tell you how many times I'm planning out my turn, check my market, and pick out a card. Then when I play my merchant and go to pick the card from the market the order's been shuffled around and now I grabbed the wrong card because I was on autopilot.

    Tuesday Night Tournament GamePlay

Jedi managed to qualify for the Tuesday Night Tournament in Eternal Card Game by landing a top 4 finish in a previous tournament. This is a two format tournament with Expedition for the Swiss and Throne for the top four. Will Jedi be able to transfer his limited skills over to constructed or will he get crushed in a world filled with top ranked constructed players?

I know you didn't mean to, but thank you and I hope whatever pulled you away from the game wasn't an emergency. We've all been there.

Dear DWD, can we please have sealed league pool export or a status on the requested feature?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 05:41 PM PST

Sealed league "Export Pool" button has been a popular request in several Reddit threads. I for one would love the feature, as it would save me time every week in clicking on all the cards in my pool, creating a dummy deck etc.

Just because the feature idea is popular doesn't mean it is good. I'd like the feature to be added but I'd also appreciate any status response from DWD such as "it's in the queue, it's a technical challenge, it breaks this other thing so for now sorry, not going to happen. "

I've left in game feedback, but no response.

I really enjoy sealed league but the clicking each week really depresses the high of opening that week's new cards.

    Thanks for your consideration!

Can anyone help me with Expedition?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 07:42 AM PST

Hello everyone, I've started Eternal 2 months ago and I'm having lot of fun.
As I said in my first post here, I'm just looking for competitive stuff.
    So far here's my "history":
I started with a budget Jito Rally deck in Throne (around 18k shards) and I piloted it till Gold 3. Then I took a break because I had enough shards for an Icebreaker midrange deck in expedition (around 22k), and reached again Gold 3 with it.
Now I builded Endra scream and FTP Endra decks for throne, switching between them what's it and what's not I reached diamond 3 and I'll try to push to master with these two.
However, I reached 23k shards now and I'd like to play expedition with something more solid (Icebreaker midrange has been very fun to me, but it's clear that it has no chance for reaching higher spots, maybe I can be lucky enough and get to Diamond 3 but that's it).
I have these campaigns: Homecoming, Firelight, Trials, Dead reckoning.
I don't know how the expedition meta looks like, I've tried to see something on eternalwarcry but to be honest, I don't have a lot of faith in decks that are not in tournaments lists. The tournaments lists that are avaiable, are a little bit old and doesn't reflect the actual meta (I guess, not sure about that but I expect the meta to be different after nerfs/buffs and the new campaign).
What does the meta looks like then? Is there a strong T1/1.5 deck that can push to master and it's affordable? I'm also very sceptical because as an MTG player I can see where my Throne Endra decks will be in 1-2 weeks or whatever, because a nerf that will kill the deck it's near the angle; and this means that I'll needs another deck for Throne again.
What would you do in my spot? Is there anything I can do for playing Expedition with such budget and context?
As an MTG player I've played any kind of archetype and I have no problem with anything, however I think I'm better with Combo strategies and that's my only preference.
Ty all, and happy new year you all.

Looking for recommendations - Control deck

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 07:38 AM PST

I usually play either aggro or midrange, and want to branch out into control decks. I've looked on EWC at a few options, but would appreciate recommendations from fellow players.

My preference is a deck archetype that will be competitive long term, understanding that updates will be needed as the meta shifts.

I'm not terribly concerned about SS cost, just looking for something solid.

    Thanks in advance!

So having Dakus buffed by Razca is a fun combo. Opponent kept having to icebolt the same Dakus. It was a fun match and matches like these is why I enjoy Eternal

    Tavrod's Bargain Basement 2019

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 02:16 PM PST

The last iteration of this deck for the year, and it's as fun as ever. Turns out you can have a great time just going through the list of cards people hate and tossing them in a pile.

    4 Icaria, Valkyrie Captain (Set1003 #7)

    4 Display of Vision (Set5 #249)

    1 Slay (Set2 #236)

    1 Surgeon's Saw (Set4 #220)

    1 Dueling Pistols (Set1002 #15)

    2 Karmic Guardian (Set1 #341)

    4 Sandstorm Titan (Set1 #99)

    4 Sword of Unity (Set4 #249)

    4 Grasping at Shadows (Set1 #292)

    3 Moonstone Vanguard (Set5 #68)

    4 Tavrod, Auric Broker (Set1002 #18)

    4 Divining Rod (Set1 #109)

    1 Grinva, Breaker of Will (Set5 #250)

    4 Answer the Call (Set4 #137)

    4 Icaria, the Liberator (Set1 #329)

    4 Lieutenant Relia (Set3 #305)

    4 Time Sigil (Set1 #63)

    1 Amber Waystone (Set3 #51)

    4 Justice Sigil (Set1 #126)

    4 Shadow Sigil (Set1 #249)

    1 Amethyst Waystone (Set3 #201)

    1 Combrei Banner (Set1 #424)

    2 Crest of Progress (Set4 #247)

    2 Seat of Progress (Set0 #58)

    1 Crest of Mystery (Set4 #266)

    1 Seat of Mystery (Set0 #61)

    1 Argenport Banner (Set2 #231)

    2 Crest of Vengeance (Set3 #264)

    2 Seat of Vengeance (Set0 #55)

Essentially you want to play like an Endurance Rod deck; Tavrod, SST, and Icaria are easily the best Endurance Rod targets in the game. Tavrod just happens to also play well with weapons, which is perfect for a Rod core. And since we are playing a bunch of huge bombs and a bunch of weapons, why not Answer the Call? It cheats out our huge threats, dumps our huge weapons on them, and occasionally we just roll bank with something big into Rod into other big things.

Tavrod and Answer the Call both dump a ton of cards (Rod does too, but it will never dump units so it's not relevant). So while we fill up the void just by playing normally, we can use reanimation spells to cheat out anything that gets milled coughIcariacough.

And of course, if you spellcraft a Sword of Unity on a Relia, the game is essentially over.

When does Twitch drops reset each day?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 02:00 AM PST

Just curious as I can't seem to find the info anywhere. Does it reset each morning as the daily quests do or is it at another time during the day?
