I have a complaint, but its a little one.

    Posted: 19 Jan 2020 12:11 PM PST

More than a complaint its an idea, dwd could give an advantage to higher qualifier to play first the first game of the series and if they win play second like it already is(when you lose you are 100% playing first the next gamme). Right now its random and in a format like expedition going first gives a huge advantage to most decks if not all

    Hope for small time brewers!

    Posted: 19 Jan 2020 12:33 PM PST

I just brew for fun, and I play mostly Gauntlet and casual, but recently I just had 2 of my decks be picked for Meta Monday in one week! T1 and T2!

I'm just proud to have made something that some people found worth playing!

My decks were listed as "combrei midrange" and "Elysian tempo" here.

So for all you small scale brewers out there who don't have some huge following or stream reputation, don't put yourselves down!

Constructive comments/feedback and card discussion are welcome

And a thumbs up if you like the deck!

Looking for recommendations on meme/jank to brew with

    Posted: 19 Jan 2020 02:34 AM PST

    Hello all,

Broxighar here with a huge favour to ask. I once again find myself in the need of new ideas for deck brewing. I don't mean I am looking for a good deck to play with, I am looking for an interesting idea to brew with.

Lately I have been playing with dragons. all kinds of combreis, some janks like discard combos but for the last few days it seems I am kinda in a slump.

I am looking for something pretty much jank that I can take as an idea and go along with until the new set hits the stage. Any recommendations are highly appreciated.

    Cheers!

As a fairly new player should I be rare drafting when I draft?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2020 08:53 AM PST

So I'm still pretty new at this game, I don't have a big collection yet. I'm trying to play and improve in both constructed and draft. When I am drafting is it really worth it to rare raft (i.e pick up all the rares)? Currently, I see a lot of rares being passed and I mostly pick them up. However, this usually makes my draft deck a lot worse I think since it's not as focused as if I was picking purely for power in my draft deck which impacts my draft results negatively.

What do you think? What do you usually do?

Is there some way to check when stage 2 of the ECQ starts?

A compliment and recommendation for DwD's Champions of Xulta Bundle and similar future cosmetics

    Posted: 18 Jan 2020 03:40 PM PST

I found myself a little short of gold to play the ECQ today, and was not going to bother until I saw the awesome alt-art in the new Champions of Xulta bundle available on the store. It's no coincidence that the bundle was released just before the somewhat expensive tournament entry fee became available, and that's a great business model on DwD's part. It makes it easier for me to justify the purchase of the pack. I don't play enough to farm up the 50,000 or so gold a month that you'd need to get entry into all the ECQs, leagues and weekend mini-tournaments in the competitive season, so if I want to compete I've got to spend some $ on gems from time to time.

However, what did bother me was minor disparity between the gems awarded with the pack (1700 if purchased on DwD website) and the entry fee for the tournament (1800 gems). This seems a rather petty business practice to me and left a bad taste in my mouth. I had some gems left over from a previous purchase so it wasn't an issue for me, but if I was a newer player trying to get into the competitive scene and thinking about making my first purchase on the DwD store, I wouldn't have had enough gems to play in the ECQ without spending another $3.

Now, I think on a whole the pack is very generous, given the # of packs and cosmetics you get along with the gems. What I would like to see instead though is a lower number of packs and instead a higher # of gems. If you give people $35 worth of gems and fewer # of packs (or the same, I wouldn't complain), they can then choose if they want to spend the gems directly on packs or in-game experience via drafting/tournaments.

The overall outcome of that change would, at least for me, put DwD in a very positive light. Then I'd be more interested in purchasing their cosmetic bundles pretty much as often as they release them, instead of around once a year as I do currently. To draw a comparison to a similar f2p business model, Path of Exile does the same with their quarterly support packs, that give you an almost equivalent value of store currency to the value of the pack, along with the microtransactions.

Anyways, I hope I've made case eloquently enough. I look forward to playing against some of you tomorrow in the ECQ as somehow I've made it in to the finals with my 4f meme control!

    In game tournaments

    Posted: 19 Jan 2020 11:05 AM PST

Does anyone know how automated the ECQs are?

What I'm getting at is that if they are automated and they already have the infrastructure and code, would in game tournaments be a thing soon?

Like in MTGO you can just queue up for a tournament and when you have 8 people it kicks off, prizes at the end, that sort of thing?

Or would it only further dilute the player pools?

Older packs should have rare duplicate protection

    Posted: 19 Jan 2020 10:25 AM PST

I think as this game expands, it already gets more challenging to fill out your collection (some people are collectors as well). I think it would be nice if (much) older packs had a rare cap so that players can actually get rares they dont own a playset of. I think a weighted system to decrease chance of 5th copy would be nice.

Maybe you can say just craft it etc, or the protection is 4 rares becomes any rare. But constantly opening the same rares while missing just one bad one or something feels pretty bad.

I am not saying make it impossible to get 5th copy. Or give guaranteed legends (although I think at some point that's nice). But maybe just weight the rares they dont own 4of a little hugher.

New player: I really dislike the power system

    Posted: 19 Jan 2020 11:21 AM PST

I came to this game after Elder Scrolls: Legends went into maintenance mode.

I love how FTP friendly the game is, and like the variety of game modes. There are also some cool tactics, like fast spells.

But I just really hate the power system. I feel like once out of every 5 games or so, I'll just get a game where I don't draw any power and there's nothing I can do. Maybe this is just git good noob. Or maybe this isn't a problem for master players.

But I'm not trying to be a pro-player. I want to have fun. And games where I just can't play any cards aren't fun.

Does this get better for you more experienced players? Or is it just, if I don't like the power system, I should just play something else?
