[Expedition] Fun Minotaur Deck for critique and advice

    First the Deck!

So far it's a blast to play. Tavrod so rarely swings, but it's okay as the rest of the deck isn't too shabby.

The MVP so far has been either one of the 2 drops + bloodletter on curve. I've had quite a few scoops to that. The second being a Tavrod beefed (lol) Harga with a Harga in play and at least 1 other Mino.

So far the removal is okay, but I'm thinking of replacing Defile with Predator's Instinct, as I'm struggling against aegis.

Oh, the deck is actually pretty cheap too.

    Decks for Naoki Valiant Warrior?

    Posted: 13 Mar 2020 10:06 AM PDT

Anyone have any success fitting this into a deck? I made a playset since this card seemed like an insane value (except insane influence reqs). But they seem to be mostly overshadowed by Strangers. I guess you could put it into a charge rod deck but rod seems dead since they nuked Answer the Call? I tried running it in FTJ Control but it doesn't seem to be a good fit there.

Naoki seems to want more units lower on the curve so you'll probably have something to Exalt its weapon onto but it's also hard to consistently play on curve. Has anyone tried yet in like an FTJ Armory? Is that a thing?

    Are the campaigns worth buying?

    Posted: 13 Mar 2020 06:43 AM PDT

I'm a new player so at the moment I'm grinding through gauntlet and forge. Are the campaigns worth buying ( when I say worth I mean in terms of reward cards)?

Based on what I've read so far Into Shadow sounds like it might be worth as the Vara card sounds like its good.

4 color good stuff informative draft/gameplay video

The fixing in this format sometimes allows you to get pretty greedy with your deck when the packs hook you up, and in this draft that is exactly what happened. Included is the draft process as to how we decided to draft such a greedy deck and the subsequent games showcasing how the deck actually performed!

    Ninja Mastery Nerf?

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 07:39 PM PDT

You used to be able to endlessly chain Ila & Mizo copies from their mastery. I was also pretty sure in the past that if you copied a unit with its mastery completed the mastery would be reset on the copy. If it was in progress the progress got copied so maybe this was a ninja fix and not a nerf. But I now know that I&M copies once only now and copying a completed mastery makes the copy also be completed. Kind of bummed out but I understand it I suppose.

Edit: Tested copying a unit with completed Ultimate which reset just as I'm used to.

Old Iron Nuts' FRIDAY Night Casual Tourney: Yeti Aurora Festival

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 06:57 PM PDT

Every weekend King OIN holds a casual tournament on his Twitch stream. This usually happens on Saturday night but this week will instead fall on Friday. This is the last weekend of winter; time for the traditional Yeti Festival celebrating the northern lights! Tomorrow night we will be running decks with 20+ cards that have "Yeti" in the text, and are composed of four factions, with at least 10 cards per faction. The stream starts at 9pm CST and unless a lot of people show up early and ready to go, the tourney generally starts 1-2 hours after that. We have very long streams on weekends; at least 8 hours but usually 10 or even 12 hours. This means people from many time zones can drop in and play or watch and see if they get inspired to throw a deck together to play with us as long (or briefly) as they wish.

These events are designed with special rules to make people think outside the meta and just have fun; there are no prizes other than bragging rights! Multiple champions can and often are declared when someone on the top of the heap has to leave the stream before it is over. So please do stop by OldIronNuts' Twitch stream tomorrow and watch our knights, lords and ladies battle it out, and if this sounds fun to you, all you have to do to enter is show up with a Throne deck that conforms to the above rules! We'll save a seat for you in the Great Hall!

Still trying to adjust to market changes with my favorite deck (a little gimpy budget Haunting Scream reanimator deck, but it still managed to win), and the fact that every other deck I play against is strangers aggro isn't helping. I can't beat 'em, and I don't have the shiftstone to join 'em. Any tips for renovating the Haunting Scream deck or should I just try something new?

    Market compromise idea

    Posted: 13 Mar 2020 12:41 AM PDT

It seems this market update has been extremely divisive, with many janky decks being severely hit by it.

Would a change in the market rules for the mono merchants to allow them to have one or two of the markets slots to allow for duplicates in the deck (as they used to), and the rest of the slots be black market cards only, be a better compromise? Otherwise, the mono merchants are so much worse than the smugglers.

It allows jank decks to keep the core card that is most important in their deck so they can still attempt to be semi viable, and also prevents the overly consistent decks to retrieve too many different 3+1 cards from their market too frequently.

    Just an idea. Thoughts?

    Felrauk the Outcast Feels Overtuned

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 04:21 PM PDT

    https://eternalcardgame.fandom.com/wiki/Felrauk_the_Outcast

This card just feels a bit too powerful. With cards like Herald's Song, Nocturnal Observer, Honor of Claws, Lightning Sprite, Rainfall Accord, Back Alley Delinquent, Sporefolk etc, it's too easy to get the discard effect for free. The influence cost of the effect of 3P3S is hardly a barrier because there are 16 Feln power cards not counting the tri-influence power cards.

So let's take a look at what happens when you discard this card.

    You

-Draw or generate a card or fill your void with options

-Get a free body on board

    Opponent

    -Loses a card from hand

-Loses cards on top of the deck

-Now has to deal with the body on board

This card just feels unfair as it is too easy and reliable to cheat out and too easy to obtain the influence for its effect. It's often a 2-for-1 or 3-for-1 in card advantage with little downside and few ways to prevent it from happening. Yes this guy dies to a number of removal spells, but your opponent still has to commit an additional card to get rid of him.

I think if there was a small power cost to cast him when discarded or a higher influence barrier for his discard effect, that would help balance him out.

    Any thoughts?
