    Eternal Card Game 4/8 Update

    Eternal Card Game 4/8 Update

    4/8 Update

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 11:36 AM PDT

We have made the following fixes and improvements:

    • Copperhall Paladin should no longer play sigils undepleted.

    • Parul's Choice should no longer be able to select Timidity if you have already played Timidity this game.

    • Fixed an issue where Display of Instinct's second mode would incorrectly gain health based off of the target unit's damaged health.

    • The curse created by Vision of Austerity should now properly count towards the effect of Kodosh Sees All.

    • Fixed several issues where Shugo's Hooked Sword was not triggering correctly.

    • Fixed an issue where Answer the Call would not function properly and would result in cards being incorrectly discarded.

    • Fixed an issue where relics transformed into units by Formbend could attack the turn they were played.

    • Incendiary Slagmite's effect should no longer remove Aegis when a card is drawn from the market.

    • Fixed an issue where Elder Astrologer was granting 1 too many Strength.

    • Fixed a visual issue when using Scout to place cards with Warp on the bottom of the deck.

    • Fixed a visual issue where Worldbearer Behemoth would play all power simultaneously.

    • Improved the targeting VFX for Unity Within.

If you encounter these issues after restarting Eternal, or have any questions, please let us know at support@direwolfdigital.com or via in-game feedback under Options.

    Brewing too much

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 03:59 PM PDT

I've been coming up with all sorts of wacky decks over the last several days, and I thought maybe I'd share them along with some thoughts. Ratings are very subjective. They're listed from first to last built.

    Can't Break the Chains (Throne)

    https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/rO91tnb7Rp8/cant-break-the-chains

I got interested in checking this out again due to the addition of Calibrate, primarily. I decided to bring in Braun for testing as a ramp unit, and Grodov's Stranger is just too good all around. The deck should probably run killer spells too, but I didn't try that.

    • Greed: 8/10
    • Fun: 6/10
    • Viability: 6/10
    • Tuning: 2/10

    Nightmare Sadists (Expedition)

    https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/y7FTURLupGY/nightmare-sadists

This is all about combining nightmares with Vox, Nurturing Sadist, and takes advantage of the fact that Corrupted units produce nightmares when they die. It has a sacrifice theme, obviously, and recursion from Dread, Endless Nightmare, Memory Dredger, and (in the market) Eremot's Machinations. This last isn't ideal, as I have no 3-drops.

    • Greed: 4/10
    • Fun: 7/10
    • Viability: 5/10
    • Tuning: 3/10

    Shavka's Mirror (Throne)

    https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/NC0fq80Xfng/shavkas-mirror

Basically Endra plus most of the unit copy effects in Skycrag. I'm sure this is a worse version of something someone already made, but I hadn't messed around too much with Endra decks, so I got to brewing. Kaleb's Persuader + Endra makes a nice combo if you can get through with it, as it triggers Mastery right away. Burr-Spore Fern has the same combo. Howling Peak is excellent as both removal and copy effect in one card. This is a combo/burn deck in essence, I'd say.

    • Greed: 6/10
    • Fun: 7/10
    • Viability: 3/10
    • Tuning: 3/10

    Yetikins (Throne)

    https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/-HqmLBhyoeo/yetikins

A pretty stock yeti list, similar to ones I was running into on ladder. Probably there are much more tuned versions of this out there, but I think this one works decently well. Uses Wump and the site to make units bigger, and is pretty low to the ground aggro in focus.

    • Greed: 1/10
    • Fun: 4/10
    • Viability: 8/10
    • Tuning: 5/10

    Yushkov Equality (Throne)

    https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/N58Sy-yYeMw/yushkov-equality

This is a midrange/burn list focusing on buffing up units for Yushkov to sacrifice for burn damage. I'm not sure if something changed recently, but I thought that double damage on sacrificed units worked with Yushkov. On testing this deck, only if Yushkov has double damage does it seem to apply. The deck runs some unequal units in terms of health/attack in order to take advantage of Yisha's equalization effect. Siraf and Bracers work very well with Yisha, especially.

    • Greed: 5/10
    • Fun: 7/10
    • Viability: 4-5/10
    • Tuning: 3/10

    Mass Transformation (Throne)

    https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/lHLZxbu1E3E/mass-transformation

Combines Vargo's Pelt with various transformation effects to get very large random units. Searches for Pelt and power with Calibrate. Strangers are in for ramp mostly. Cliffside Porter and Search Party are trying to flood the board for Mass Polymorph, Vernal Mandrake, Lastlight Druid, Flight of Makkar, and Shimmerpack (all mass transform effects).

    • Greed: 8-9/10
    • Fun: 8/10
    • Viability: 2-3/10
    • Tuning: 4/10

    Jennev Speed Greed (Throne)

    https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/BHdTsD9hvBU/jennev-speed-greed

This one has several different interactions going on. It's spells/relics with some inspiration from Curiox, Insatiable Seeker. There are a good number of fast spells to go with Eclipse Dragon. There are some negates to deal with removal spells, etc. Killer plus Ila & Mizo is in for recursion/removal. Vargo's Pelt and Phoenix Stone are in as a combo. If you can market a few times, you can grab Archmagister's Portal and Knucklebones, and then Vargo's Pelts will buff all the units that Knucklebones creates.

    • Greed: 10/10
    • Fun: 7/10
    • Viability: 4-5/10
    • Tuning: 4/10

    Makto Keelo (Throne)

    https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/U18QalkG7GE/makto-keelo

This just combines Keelo, Bold Innovator with units that when sacrificed, play a 5-cost unit. The units included are Makto and Makkar's Stranger. Piercing Grief is the cheapest unit that can be sacrificed for Makto, so theoretically it could happen with just two power in play, but usually it'll be on 4 power, with one of the 3-drops in play as sacrifice fodder. The other units in the deck are at least not terrible in most cases (Felrauk's Infiltrator is pretty bad here but it can block at least). Display of Purpose can get some value off of sacrificed units with Exalted. The Swear Vengeances can do something similar, for the units that don't already have Revenge.

    • Greed: 3/10
    • Fun: 5/10
    • Viability: 5-6/10
    • Tuning: 6/10

    Deadly Touch of Spring (Throne)

    https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/2xCmPQpuNBo/deadly-touch-of-spring

This is a really odd combination of ideas. I was trying to find all the possible cards that play cards for the enemy on your turn in order to combo with Seneschal of Light. The best example of this is Snapping Hydrangea, which plays four 1/1s on summon. Guardian of Spring plays one card for the enemy. I at first thought Amaran Stinger might work, but I forgot those are played on the enemy turn. Since we play units for the enemy, I added Touch of Battle and Warning Jolt/Torrential Downpour to clean things up on the other side. Yetipult and Blitrok also can work there. Hourglass is in the market to help deal with the Guardian of Spring's downside. The Throne Room is included to provide more killer effects and some late-game oomph.

    • Greed: 6/10
    • Fun: 5/10
    • Viability: 3/10
    • Tuning: 2/10

    Valkyrie Harvesting (Throne)

    https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/Zoa9r7iTjSA/valkyrie-harvesting

Was inspired by some talk on a recent LocoPojo stream to try messing with Valkyrie Harvester again. I thought maybe combining Pristine Light with it might be a cheaper way to steal the opponents' units. The rest of the deck fell into a mostly justice valkyrie ramp deck. Rolant's Intervention and Finest hour can protect valkyries from some removal or in combat, while also buffing Geomar quite nicely. Baby Icaria, Copperhall Bracers, and Reclaim make up the ramp portions of the deck. The ideal scenario would be killing some large revenge units with Pristine Light and then playing them with Valkyrie Harvester, (I'm fairly certain this works even if the unit is not in the void) but this is a pretty rare scenario, so the deck often functions like a regular valkyrie deck except a little bit hobbled in the quest to Harvester.

    • Greed: 4/10
    • Fun: 5-6/10
    • Viability: 5-6/10
    • Tuning: 4/10

    Praxis Charge Rod (Throne)

    https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/kazsB9WIwrQ/praxis-charge-rod

In the past I felt like you needed three colors to get enough decent charge units into a Divining Rod deck. With the addition of the new Milos I think there might be enough going on in just Praxis to stick to those two colors. This deck is Heavily fire-focused with no power cards providing only time in order to get Ghodan into a playable place. Grodov Evangel helps fix for time by the point you need to play the Divining Rod, alongside all the dual powers. I feel like Kaleb has a lot more targets in a deck like this, so when you hit him, it can really go off. Ghodan is pretty amazing all by herself. The deck has a pretty awkward curve like most Rod decks, so I think luck plays a huge role in deciding how the games go. Russian Roulette in a deck, basically.

    • Greed: 7-8/10
    • Fun: 8/10
    • Viability: 4-5/10
    • Tuning: 5/10

    Stonescar Sacrifice (Throne)

    https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/JnPnGinKUA0/stonescar-sacrifice

I wanted to try a sacrifice deck in just Stonescar colors in order to increase consistency with influence costs. I'm running a lot of the usual suspects, and trying out Dakus and Obrak as payoffs. There are some market payoff relics as well. Shrine to Karvet is just in the market right now, as this is more mid-range in focus, but I could see it maybe finding a way into the maindeck instead. I know it's incredibly powerful in the right deck. Overall this feels less powerful than the FTS versions of the deck, but it's definitely more consistent. I'm not sure if it's worth the trade-offs.

    • Greed: 2/10
    • Fun: 4/10
    • Viability: 5-6/10
    • Tuning: 3/10

    Royal Killers (Throne)

    https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/8ER5GC8GJK0/royal-killers

We just got Pesky Seedling and The Throne Room (hence Royal), so I put together an Elysian Killer-focused list. Some great interactions:

    1. Preyfinder and Pesky Seedling to remove small units while drawing cards (plus making units in the opponent's hand more expensive)
    2. Guardian of Spring plus Savagery for instant value before it can be stunned by Eye of Winter
    3. Thrashing Dune Wurm can come down later in the game as an anthem, if a few of your units have used killer already, and if it can give killer effects out, all the better.
    4. The all-too-common Grodov's Stranger into 1-cost killer effect
    5. Grodov attack/killer while Alhed is in play for giant units
    6. Recursion of dead (sometimes huge) killer units by Grodov's void shuffle
    7. Killer Effects on Emblem of Grodov's Earth Elemental
    8. The Throne Room can get to 3 activations pretty quickly with so many killer/overwhelm effects.
    9. Infinite Hourglass in market for Guardian of Spring
    10. Grodov's Burden in market for card draw/value off of exalted (most units are single faction and killer with exalted is amazing!)
    • Greed: 4-5/10
    • Fun: 6-7/10
    • Viability: 7/10
    • Tuning: 6-7/10

    Hatchery Echoes (Throne)

    https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/-999FiA3p_c/hatchery-echoes

This was an interesting idea that just didn't work. Basically tries to draw echo cards, ramp to 6 to play Hatchery Hunter, and transform the cards in hand into cheap flyers. It also plays Majestic Skies to buff said flyers. Messenger Hawk and Second Sight were intended to generate even more echo cards. I would say it's just way too likely that you die before putting out anything useful. Even in the perfect scenario it's not that much better than straight ElysianFlyers.dec.

    • Greed: 7/10
    • Fun: 2/10
    • Viability: 0/10
    • Tuning: 2-3/10

I hope I inspire some brewing out there! Let me know what you think!

    Written Draft Walk Through

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 10:13 PM PDT

If you are more of a visual learner but have a hard time keeping up with draft videos and/or streams, this is a written draft walk through. It includes pictures of each draft pack, explanations of the cards that I am considering taking, why specific cards were chosen, and ultimately what made the deck and what was cut. Hopefully this article will help improve some of your limited game or at the very least shine some light on some confusing areas!

Keelo + EHGolem interaction - bug or am I missing something?

Asked and answered, thanks to u/ThaSiestaFiesta and u/Alomba87

If I sacrifice an [[Even-Handed Golem]] using [[Keelo, Bold Innovator]]'s ability, I should be able to play another Golem from my deck, right? Here I have one [[Even-Handed Golem]] in the Void (two after sacrificing) and two more in my deck.

The other 2-cost Units are appearing as options to play from Keelo's ability, but [[Even-Handed Golem]] is not included. Bug? Or am I missing something? Using mobile/iOs.

    Destroying premium cards

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 11:08 AM PDT

I don't particularly care for Premium cards. I only keep them if I don't have four of their non-premium counterpart.

I was wondering if there's a way to filter my collection so that it only shows premium cards of which I have 4 copies of the normal version?

And is there a way to batch destroy cards? I've never bothered to destroy my premium commons and I've ammased quite a few over my time playing. I'd just like to destroy them all.

How long does it take to build a top deck as F2P?

I hear that Eternal card game is very F2P friendly. Is there concrete number on how long it would take to grind out a top deck in Eternal when starting out as F2P player?
