Equalize Face Aegis interaction

Hi, does anyone know how Equalize interacts with face aegis? Asking because when I tried to use it to pop face aegis, it prompted me to discard and sac units. Yet when another opponent would have had to sac and discard it just popped their face aegis. Is this a bug?

Very irritating because not only is it a hard counter to reanimator but it also relentlessly pops face aegis.
