2nd Annual Eternal Community Survey Posted: 04 Dec 2020 08:50 AM PST We're following up last year's survey with another Eternal Community Survey. https://forms.gle/Cf1aZwehRxZKGp4v9 There are 11 short sections and it will take approx. 5-10 minutes to complete. We would appreciate honesty and thoughtful replies. The more people who take the survey the more meaningful the data. The survey is completely anonymous. A lot of the questions remain the same from last year so we can compare responses. We've also tweaked a few questions based on feedback and added a few new ones. Here are last year's results. Please share with as many Eternal players as possible. Link on Discord, Tweet, mention it on your stream, or YouTube video. We will keep the survey open as long as we're receiving steady replies. We don't have an online degree in Survey Language. (We did the best we could.) We tried to keep our biases out. Our goal was to get a feel for the "current state of the game" with a side focus on content creation. (As we are content creators.) Our intention is to share the data with the community on our show. I'm also happy to share the raw data with anyone who would like to dig deeper. Thank you to Stevercakes for linking to us from Eternal Warcry. Thank you to EJ_Jedi, gatosujo, and soapyelo for help crafting the questions. [link] [comments]

Making the Promo Work - Dichro's Ruin Posted: 04 Dec 2020 09:55 AM PST Dichro's Ruin is a really fun card, and abusing it is a blast. The 2-cost curse does a lot to counterplay control and aggro decks by punishing players who draw extra cards or deal damage quickly. It consistently pops face aegis and can deal with relic weapons pretty well. In the Expedition format, the card should be a welcome line of defense against Sling of the Chi decks, but in Throne it can get out of hand very quickly, forcing your opponent to basically draw themselves to death. So that's our gameplan here. This deck is a very greedy, four-faction stockpile of tutors, curses, and card-drawing generators, with some early-game removal splashed in. The market features a couple more greed-sticks and some harsh control should things get out of hand or our gameplan doesn't come to fruition as early as we'd like. The power base features three sigils so we can still take advantage of Ice Bolt, 9 cylixes, and 15 crests. We basically don't care about playing on curve, so don't expect much early-game momentum. You may come across an opponent who simply will not cooperate with your gameplan. You know the kind of people, the ones who when you have two Dichro's Ruin on them and they refuse to draw extra cards? We have a host of ways to deal with such stubborn players. Amaran Stinger's Infiltrate ability will put some destiny spells on the top of your opponent's deck, which will force them to draw "extra" cards. We also have a pair of Wrath of Caiphus and a silver-bullet Lys, Champion of Linrei. The pair of Pumpwerks Monstrosity will help refresh your deck should things get a little too out of hand, and as an alternate win-con, we also have Kodosh Sees All to make the most of your curse-happy lifestyle. Do you think the game would be better if it's faster? Posted: 04 Dec 2020 03:08 AM PST I'm talking about resolving stuff and animation. They are cool but I feel like if we have an option to speed up or skip them it would have been better. This is not just for the Talir combo varies specifically but in general. What do you think? Big Secret Technique - that must not be talked about Posted: 04 Dec 2020 08:54 AM PST This is not a rant, it is an honest plea for help from a newbie player, 2 whole months now in the game. What's in this for you if you help me out? Some of you will continue to beat me, good for you! If I don't get better (3-17 last 20 matches) you'll lose someone you can win against. It's just silly for me to keep playing. I hope you can help me. I understand RNG. I get that Eternal has a shuffling algorithm. I know that deck building is both math-science and art. I understand that some of you can look at a pile of cards and know what card will synergize with others. (Many of you are stone-cold math geniuses and I admire you.) To increase my card pool, I've entered the League twice now. Have done Draft 5 times, Forge 5 times. Am Master in Gauntlet, Bronze I in Throne, Bronze III in Expedition. I get a First Win deck every day, and so far I've completed every quest. I have 19,403 Shiftstone, 49,001 Gold. Have 24 Legendary cards, 178 Rare. I watch the streams and videos, I write down and spreadsheet the names of cards opponents play that I think are really good. I ask a lot of questions here on this sub-r. I make decks from warcry and then have to add cards as I don't have all of the cards. In my last 20 games I won 3. Feels crappy. Maybe this is a big "secret technique" that must not be talked about. I play a card, my opponent counters it, sometimes something as esoteric as "kill enemy relic." (without knowing what your next opponent has in their deck, why would you have 4 or more "kill enemy relic" cards in your deck? Are Relics that ubiquitous?) These are not control decks, they just seem to counter the crap out of me. Question #1: How would you build a deck that counters so many of your opponents cards? Question #2: What can I do? It is discouraging to have this happen in at least 7 of 10 matches. Thanks to anyone who replies! [link] [comments]

Please stop printing Justice/Rakano combat tricks Posted: 04 Dec 2020 10:52 AM PST It feels impossible to really play an Ambush game or even a blocking game at all against these colors when they have so many combat tricks that you both know they are holding up. As long as the other player has at least 1 power, you have to beware of:
If they have at least 2 power, you have to beware of:
I'm sure there are some less prevalent ones that I missed here as well. It feels pointless to try and interact with Justice/Rakano units at all except through Shadow/hard (i.e. non-damage) removal spells. Which is not what you want to be doing against Aggro or else you are asking to be dead by turn 4. Is anyone else feeling a little frustrated by this, especially over the last few campaigns/sets?
