Eternal Card Game How does this game stay afloat?

Eternal Card Game How does this game stay afloat?

How does this game stay afloat?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2021 12:03 PM PDT

I just started playing and I can't see any reason I need to spend money...

I also don't see a lot of people playing. The top youtube channel on the topic only has about 5k subs (LocoPojo.)

Like that crazy lady in the commercial, "None of this makes any sense." The game seems amazing, it's practically free, but it's also practically unknow. Am I missing something? I have no plans to stop playing, and I already got a buddy into it, but it feels like a dead game they are just giving away.

Back after a ~1.5 year break, some questions

    Posted: 04 Aug 2021 08:35 AM PDT

Apologies if there's a questions thread for this sort of thing. For some reason, right around the time covid hit, I stopped playing Eternal - paradoxically, more time at home meant less time for the game, as more time was opened up for longer duration games like dota/rpgs/whatever and less times where I felt I could just sneak a round of Eternal in (but then get hooked for hours anyway). A few questions:

    1. What's the best way to digest the plot/story additions I've missed? I know there's drops for promo cards as well as set/campaign releases, but is there an optimal way to put it together? Or just comb through DWD news?

    2. I guess I stopped before a big merchants change (all merchants are black market now?). Most of my decks are invalid as a result - is the merchant meta back to more of a "silver bullet" situation? Do folks still include multiple merchant types, and are merchant-less decks more of a thing now? Just curious how I should look to build.

    3. What are some FUN effective decks I can shoot for? I have about 60k shiftstone, and most non-legendaries up to flame of xulta. Fine with net decking, especially since most of my old decks don't work with merch changes.

    4. Kinda confused by the campaigns/purchasable card collection situation. The store in game, from what I can tell, doesn't do an amazing job Of displaying what's in the set. Is there a must-have/order I should buy them in?

Thanks all for any questions answered. Excited to get back in the game :)

    Team Not-Tavrod Throwdown Tournament: Pauper

    Posted: 04 Aug 2021 06:40 AM PDT

Hi, folks. marvin_the_imp here. Team Not-Tavrod Throwdown tournaments are coming off of hiatus with the first round robin tournament running from 8/18 to 8/22. The format will be Pauper. Register for the event here.

    What's a Throwdown?

For those not familiar with a TNT Throwdown tournament, they run from Wednesday 12pm Central US time to Sunday 7pm Central US. They are round robin, so you play all opponents in your group whenever you can during the tournament period. There are no set "rounds" like in a Swiss tournament. These are a casually completive. We play to win, but we play to have fun. You schedule games with opponents through the team discord. Join the server to participate, test decks, and get in on the fun.

    Pauper Format Rules

    • Minimum 75 card decks and consist of commons only.
    • Campaign cards are not allowed.

We enjoy playing different formats. The next two tournaments will be Hero format (beginning 9/1) and what we've called Serf (tentatively scheduled to begin on 9/22).

    Hero Format Rules (9/1)

    • Decks must be 100 card singleton decks (no duplicates). However, decks CAN contain multiple copies of power cards (including all non-sigils) and cards that exchange with your market (any combination of Merchants, Grafters, and Etchings), up to a maximum of 12.
    • A hero card is any unit card that comes up when searching for the term Hero in client.
    • Your hero card goes into the market. The only other cards allowed in the market are power and bargain cards (search for term Bargain in client).

Serf Format Rules (Tentatively Scheduled: 9/22)

    • Deck must be 75 cards and consist of commons, uncommons, and must contain 4 rares or promos. Rares/promos must be single copies only.
    • Campaign cards are not allowed.
    • Markets are open. One card in your Market may be of any rarity, including legendary, while each other card must be a common or uncommon.
    • You may only have one copy of a Bargain card between your main deck and Market.
    • Sites are banned in this format.

I hope you'll come out and enjoy some cool deckbuilding formats.

Hour of Glass Open in Retrospect

What’s your least favourite faction to play and why?

For me it would be P then S. P on it own seem so boring and S I just hate how BS it can be.

Gauntlet AI just used Excavate to put a Scorpion Trap on top of its deck.

That is all. I'm pleased, but deeply confused.

Hour of Glass bundle for 25k coins

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 06:03 PM PDT

    Hi,

The website says there is an Hour of Glass bundle for 25k coins that have the campaign, a theme deck, and 4 copies of each of the new cards. In the store I see a bundle with the same name and cost. But it only shows the theme deck. Does that coin purchase give the campaign and new cards?

    Thanks.

I miss aggro decks having a way to break up unit based combo decks.
