Constructive suggestions to attract returning players Posted: 15 Jun 2020 07:32 AM PDT My last thread had a too harsh tone. The game is great, and I've been very much enjoying it since coming back after a 2 year hiatus. However, it took me a lot of willpower to finally try coming back even though I often had the urge over those two years because I felt I would be too far behind and wouldn't be able to compete. This is mostly true, and even though I'm 500 hours and $250+ in this game, I'm still playing budget decks on throne and expedition to farm for gold to get back to normal. Most people don't have my level of patience, and I don't have much more. I want to keep playing the game, but the interest is waning as the economy is far from generous unless you have consistently played since beta. Compare it to LoR, I have a full playset of every card in LoR after just 5 weeks of play. Since I've picked Eternal back up on the exact same day, I've only acquired Shadows of the Spire, a sealed entry a couple drafts and about 35 free packs of EoE from first win of the day. This game used to be one of the most popular CCGs on steam and as anyone can see from the charts, we have a big problem of losing players and not being able to retain them. Speaking from personal experience as well as anecdotal data gathering talking to other relapsed players, the biggest hurdle to attract returning players is that the amount they are behind on content is simply overwhelming and the game currently does not offer any catch up mechanics. I love the mechanics of this game, and economy-aside I think it's the top product on the market, overall I ranked it second among the 6 active CCGs I've played. Here are my ideas for saving this game:
My $40 would be gone in a heartbeat if there was anything near that value in the store right now, but the only item I'm considering purchasing is the $10 starter bundle, but I won't because the 800 gems (bought directly through DWD) is 200 short of buying a campaign, and the campaigns are the best value and most fun in the game since you get playsets of everything. The FOMO economy of f2p games only works for so long, and it does not age well when the game ages. The product has never been better, but we have fewer players now than ever. Even beta in 2016 had more active players. This game has a chance to survive, but we need DWD to make some smarter monetization choices and attract returning players. I think getting new players is probably unlikely or at least should be secondary focus to getting back the old players [link] [comments]

Announcing the TNT Open Swiss Eternal Tournament happening this Saturday! Posted: 15 Jun 2020 10:44 AM PDT TL;DR: Saturday, 12PM US Eastern Hello! I'm a dragon hoarding teacups, and I'm with fellow Team Not-Tavrod member Duocat, and together we are (with a little help from /u/marvin_the_imp) running an Eternal tournament this Saturday! The format is Throne, and is open to everyone. This is a for-fun tournament, for players who enjoy the best-of-three format, for players looking for a somewhat more social Eternal experience, and for those with an interest in practicing for more serious events. Again, everyone is welcome! As a note for card legality: all cards that are craftable/available in a campaign will be legal for the tournament. Preview cards that cannot be obtained in such a manner (such as being available exclusively through Draft, or only with gems) will be considered illegal for the tournament, so as to promote an equal playing field and lower the barriers for entry. We hope to see you there! [link] [comments]

Noob question, why can't you choose which enemy cards to attack? Posted: 15 Jun 2020 01:40 PM PDT Is it just me? Nobody else seems to notice this. I came from hearthstone because Blizzard sucks. All you can do is select with cards you want to attack and then click attack button to have them blindly choose for you. Half the time my cards attack the wrong opponents and waste themselves... I'm playing the tutorial still I think so maybe it just hasn't unlocked that yet? [link] [comments]
