Suggestion on how to attract and retain new playerbase.

Eternal was dubbed the most generous and F2P friendly digital card game on the market. I think this was true for the first few years before the major competitors emerged.

There are a few things in Eternal that turns off new players, but I think the core of it lies in 1)its emphasis on "winning" and 2)its lack of player freedom.

Winning in card games involve 3 things: Luck, Deck, Skill. Brand new players are, naturally, lacking in Deck and Skill due to lack of starting resources and experience. So, when the game's reward structure hinges on wins, it turns new players away. There's a simple fix... Overhaul the quest system! Half of the quests that come up involves "winning"! You already have win rewards and win of the day rewards, let's not make it hard for new players to do their quests!

Player freedom is basically how a game let's the players enjoy the game in the way they want without feeling like they are being penalized. As a player who loves to draft...I feel like I'm being penalized for not being able to partake in the daily win rewards! I also think Draft reward structure is terrible for F2P draft-focused players but that's a different topic.

So, TLDR: game could get more new players to stay just by streamlining its basic quest system and break down the reward barriers between constructed and draft.

Eternal Salty Brew - Imbue Killers

I have seen a lot of posts lately about the state of the game. Whether it be finding it, leaving it, or saying it needs to grow. Here are some raw numbers for Eternal on steam. "Last 30 days" is actually so far this month.

    Expedition on Fire

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 07:18 AM PDT

I'm experiencing Fire/X almost exclusively in Diamond/masters expedition gameplay, almost all playing x4 Jekk and x4 Milos. Counted last 20 games and only 3 are not F, F/P or F/P/T.

Anyone else has this issue? It's really frustrating. What are options to counter?

Why I stopped playing, and why I think this game won't grow

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 12:29 PM PDT

I was very very addicted to this game for a while, even bought a couple campaigns, but after a few months I decided to stop playing and probably won't recommend it to anyone and the reason is simple - the game is grossly unbalanced. Every new release is grossly unbalanced and completely changes the meta. Old great decks typically become instantly unplayable and if you're not using the latest legendaries / meta you just can't really play. It's fine to have to create new decks but it's no fun when your only real options each release are 1 of like 3 meta decks with minor modifications

Suggestion: Monthly unlimited phantom draft subscription

    Posted: 14 Aug 2020 04:03 PM PDT

Pretty much self explanatory. X bucks per month, play as many drafts as you want, you don't keep the cards you draft. Existing draft option would be untouched for those who want it. Netflix for eternal draft.

There would be many details to consider (such as whether it would be a separate player pool from classic draft, whether there would be different prizes, whether games count for quests, etc) but I think it would be fun and maybe good for the game.
