[Discussion] What are the benefits of eternal's power system over more linear systems? Posted: 13 Jun 2020 07:57 AM PDT Sorry for the somewhat vague title, I just didn't want it to be long. What I'm getting at here is that I'm wondering what the benefits are of eternal's power system (and MTG's) over games like hearthstone or runeterra that just give you 1 power every turn? I'm not getting into the actual benefits of lands and influence, that I understand is for deck identity. What I'm asking about is having to play power to extend your maximum power as opposed to just gaining one a turn. I ask because I feel that power flood/screw is a big criticism of this game, and DWD seems to be aware of this as half the mechanics in the game that have been introduced in the last year seem to be built around addressing this issue, with plunder being the most recent one. This left me wondering what exactly are the benefits of these systems from a mechanics perspective that DWD is investing in trying to "fix" and salvage this flawed system with all these different mechanics rather than just change the system (other than the obvious fact that rebuilding the game from the ground up is near impossible at this point) I've played many CCG's and have always found myself leaning away from these systems that eternal employs because I feel like too much of the game and deck building winds up just revolving around fixing your power, which takes away from other facets and makes it a lot harder to have complex interactions, counterplay, etc because so much focus shifts to just curving out on power. (Not calling HS complex btw, but I think LoR is a good example of how much more complex a game can be when you arent restricted by these power systems) I feel another glaring flaw is that many wins and losses are determined by this little power "mini game" more than actual minion/spell interactions and meaningful game play which just feels bad for both parties. This isnt meant to be a criticism of DWD or eternal, rather a conversation of the pros and cons. I've played this game for years now and love it, this is just something I've often wondered about. Who knows, maybe some people prefer these systems because the power minigame is fun for some. [link] [comments]

Which sets you think will be rotated out of Expedition Posted: 13 Jun 2020 11:18 AM PDT For me i think it: The Flame of Xulta Promise by fire lights The Tale of Horus Traver Echoes of Eternity (at least half of it) Thinking about it we sure did have a lot of set for this expedition kind of feel bad for the newer players. Posted: 12 Jun 2020 08:17 PM PDT With the new chapter around the corner, I really hope we get more cards or lore on Siraf. A dark version of her would be cool and having another Siraf would be really fun to play with, I really like using decks with any version of Siraf, so getting another one would make me hsppy [link] [comments]
